Project Assets

Upload and manage the images, videos, fonts, and other media your project's apps use

Open Project Assets using the Project Assets icon in the project section of the main menu.

Project Assets is where you keep the media your apps use: images, videos, audio, fonts, and documents. Each file gets a public URL, so your app loads it from the web instead of bundling it with your code. That keeps large files, like a welcome video, out of your app’s codebase.

Assets belong to the project, not to a single app. Every app in the project sees the same files, so a logo you upload once works in your mobile app, your website, and anything else you add to the project.

Once a file is uploaded, you can mention it in a chat with the AI Agent or use its URL when editing code yourself.

To use an image, video, or audio file in a component, select the component and select Change (or Add, for an empty field) on its image, video, or audio field in the Content section at the top of the Styles tab, then Choose from Project Assets…. You can upload a new file or paste a URL from the same menu.

The right side of the page lists your files and folders. Select a folder to open it, and use the path above the list to go back up. The top level is called Root.

  • Rename or delete: right-click a file or folder and choose Rename or Delete.
  • Move: drag a file onto a folder. Moving folders isn’t supported yet.
  • See file details: select a file to open its details. You’ll see a preview, its size, when it was last changed, and its URL with a copy button. From there you can rename the file with the pencil icon, open it in a new tab with View, or Delete it.

Folder names can contain letters, numbers, spaces, hyphens, underscores, and dots. Draftbit saves them in lowercase with hyphens, so My Photos becomes my-photos.

Drag files or folders onto the Upload Files area, or select it to pick files. You can also use the buttons inside it:

Files go into the folder you have open. A progress message shows while each file uploads.

Draftbit renames uploaded files so they’re easy to use in code. Spaces, hyphens, and underscores are removed and each word is capitalized, so my photo.png becomes MyPhoto.png. Retina suffixes like @2x are kept. A name that starts with a number keeps it, so 1photo.png stays 1photo.png.

File names can’t contain any of these characters: / [ ] , ; " ' & $ ^. If a file has one, the upload skips it and shows Some file names are not supported with the names to fix. Rename the file and upload it again.

The Storage card shows how many files you’ve uploaded, how much space they use, and a bar of your usage against the limit.

Each project has 1 GB of asset storage. The limit is the same on every plan, and it’s shared by all the apps in the project. You can upload any of the supported file types as long as the upload fits in the space you have left.

If an upload would go over the limit, it stops with Storage limit exceeded and tells you how much space is left and how much the file needs. Delete files you no longer use to make room.
